Like any special life events, weddings are commonly getting postponed due to the current crisis of the Coronavirus pandemic. Couples are doing alternative ways to rejoice the day they originally planned to tie the knot.
Read your vows to one another
It's may have been a tradition to save your wedding vows for each other on your wedding day. But for unique cases like what we have now, surely it's okay to read it to one another. Sharing your commitments to one another will make you feel loved, and even if you aren't legally married yet, you will feel like you already started your life together.
Share your first dance at home
You might have already picked your song for your first dance by now, so there's nothing preventing you from playing it at home. Move the couch away for now and enjoy the song together. Allow yourselves to get lost in the lyrics and feel as if it's your wedding day.
Dress up for the day
You and your soon to be spouse can make it feel like it's really your wedding day by dressing up! Try to look for an alternative dress that you can wear just for the day (don't wear the official wedding dress of course). Take pictures and share them on social media. Your friends and relatives surely will be happy.
Make your day a spa day
Having your wedding day postponed can really be stressful, and highly likely you already booked a massage day on your honeymoon. You may not get a professional massage at the moment, but you can give each other a good and relaxing massage at home. Light those candles and pop out those essential oils.
Write love letters for each other
Your original wedding date may not have turned out according to what's planned but giving a love letter for each other is still a meaningful way to tell your soon to be spouse how you feel for each other. Spend some time together writing a sincere letter to your partner, and then swap notes later in the day.
Treat yourselves and eat whatever you want
Order an expensive meal on the go and order your wedding day meal. Eat anything and whatever you intended to eat on your original wedding date. Eating your comfort food should fill not just your tummies but also your create happy hormones.
Have a toast
No one can stop you from popping a champagne right from the comfort of your home. Get a bottle and have a toast, cheers to spending the rest of your lives happily.
Setup a Photo shoot
A wedding day wouldn't be special without photos. Normally, you will hire a team to document your candid smiles and solemn moments. Bring out your tripod and start your self-timer for an unlimited picture taking of your supposed wedding day. Pose for a few shots take some selfies together and share it with your social media channels.
You could bake a cake together
Even though you didn't get to eat your supposed wedding cake, but it shouldn't stop you from tasting one! Enjoy something sweet by picking out even just a simple cake recipe and spend the day baking together. Top it off with your cake topper to make it feel like it's the official wedding cake.
Arrange a zoom video call with your loved ones
A wedding is not just about getting married and tying the know for good, but it's also sharing the special day and celebrating your union with the people you love. You'll presumably be feeling their absence on the original date so you better set up a virtual celebration. Invite your family and friends to a Zoom call for a virtual dinner and have a toast!
A postponed wedding doesn't need to be stressful. It was just the date that was moved, but never your feelings for each other. You can always celebrate the love and joy you have no matter what day it is.
